The Royal Parks Volunteer ranger service was established in 2019 in response to rising visitor numbers across their two largest Parks, Bushy and Richmond. As one of the founder members, Duncan MacCallum has spent many happy hours in Richmond Park with his colleagues engaging with the public and answering their questions on matters as diverse as the wildlife, history and landscapes through to lost property, lost people and stray or feral dogs. All the Rangers are volunteers who give up their time to provide a unique service that has now spread across the remaining Parks within the Royal Parks’ estate. Duncan has always had a lifelong love of nature and the outdoor life. He has travelled widely in pursuit of this interest and recently returned from a week in the Ardnamurchan peninsula in the West Highlands of Scotland where he was lucky enough to see White tailed sea eagles, otter, seals and Pine marten in their natural habitat in order to sustain his passionate interest in nature and conservation. In an engaging audio visual presentation he will guide you through, a year in the Life of Richmond Park through the eyes of a Ranger. There will be time to ask questions at the end of the talk.
February is also our birthday, and what would birthdays be without some cake and a drink to celebrate.
