Long time … no send!!!!
So I’ve tried to find other ways to send out info but truth is these newsletter are still the best way of connecting. Trouble is they take a bit of time and as I’ve been overseas on work fatigues I haven’t had a chance to do one recently. So apologies for slowness but does mean it’s a bumper issue … with a whole list of things I need you to bring to/do before the meeting on Monday! There’s also all the details of our fabbo evening meal, an outing to Winchester and a rather different plan for our last meeting of the year. To say it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas might be an understatement!
Survey – your thoughts count
In a separate email you will have received a link to our annual survey. It’s really easy to do … tick boxes for most of them but still plenty of space to feed back your thoughts. BUT .. and it’s a big BUT … we really need a good response. Not just from the people who come regularly but from all 65 of our members so we can get a really good picture of how we have done and what you want us to change. If you haven’t received it please check your junk box and if it still isn’t there you can connect to it using this link https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BarnesWI19.
Monday December 16th
Barnes Green Day Centre
Not only will this be held at a different venue** but there’s a different feel to tonight! Because the wonderful Silver Swans – part of the Royal Ballet School and featured in this month’s edition of Times & Leisure – are coming along to show us the difference between a Plie and a Jete and maybe even a Pirouette.
Working to a Christmas theme this will be an interactive evening for those who want/can or purely observatory for those you don’t. Either way be prepared and make sure – even if you are only going to watch the rest of us be silly – you dig out the Tutu’s and wings … tiara optional!
** The Christmas Meeting will be held at Barnes Green Day Centre, next to the Pond and will include festive nibbles and drinks! 7.30 start.
Sarah is organising a trip to this fab Christmas market. Some of you have already booked but if you haven’t reserved a place please email her here. If you want to know more about it click this link … it looks amazing!
Can you help the committee???
Most of the committee are standing for a second year but we have space for more! Liz would like a Deputy Treasurer, we also desperately need someone to take over the newsletters/general comms and we can never have enough activity organisers … even if it’s one event a year. So if you fancy joining the merry gang please let Alison know by emailing her here.
Women’s magazines urgently needed
Liz Bridge, our member who works at Wandsworth Prison has asked us to share this message.
The visits hall at the prison has done an urgent call out for women’s magazines. The wives who visit often have to wait for hours with young children. We have done a fair job at toys and games for children but the women visitors are often tired and distressed and have nothing to do (but get cross with children and one another).
I suddenly thought that the members of Barnes WI might be prepared to give and collect up their magazines –any glossy will do. If someone will gather up for me I will come and collect.
Loads of love
